Cambridgeshire County Council have indicated that based upon current development within the Town there is a need for additional secondary school capacity in Wisbech.

Alongside this, there are ambitious regeneration plans within the District Council adopted plan for the area. This is further supported by the social and economic regeneration agenda promoted by the cross-agency Wisbech 2020 group for the expansion of Wisbech to the west that potentially generates further secondary school places.

To cater for the emerging numbers the County are proposing to develop a site that they own off Barton Road, providing a 600 place Secondary School. The school will serve the current population and outlying villages and will be ideally placed when the development of West Wisbech occurs.

The proposals will also include the re-location and co-location with the secondary school of the Social Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) School, run by Tbap Unity Academy, from their current site in Wisbech to a purpose built, state of the art building.

The overall site masterplan will retain further land for possible future expansion of the secondary school and a potential Primary school. These developments do not form part of the initial phase and will be driven by future demographic data as West Wisbech expands.
